About

The Newman Notebook

Christian theology is full of profound theories, fascinating controversies and questions that have kept theologians arguing for centuries. And frankly, that's what makes it so interesting!

Welcome to The Newman Notebook, a podcast that gets beneath the surface of Christian beliefs to explore the debates, disagreements and ideas that have shaped them.

This podcast has been created with A-Level Religious Studies students in mind, but is open to anyone with a curious mind. We aim to bring theology out of the textbook and into conversation.

Each episode takes a particular theological question and explores its history, its complexities and the different perspectives that make it worth discussing. Along the way, we'll challenge assumptions, question established interpretations and discover that theology is rarely as straightforward as it first appears.

Behind The Newman Notebook

I'm a theologian and educator with a doctorate in theology and Catholic education. I have a passion for making complex ideas accessible, engaging and, above all, interesting.

I believe theology is at its best when we're encouraged to ask difficult questions, think critically and explore different perspectives rather than simply accept the answers we're given.

That's what The Newman Notebook is all about.

Whether you're studying for your A-Levels, teaching Religious Studies or simply fascinated by the questions at the heart of Christianity, there's a place for you here.
